A Journey Through the Mysterious Bhangarh Fort: The Most Haunted Place in India

Bhangarh Fort, located in the Rajasthan state of India, is considered to be one of the most haunted places in the country. The fort, which was built in the 17th century, has a rich history and a number of legends associated with it.

One of the most popular legends associated with the fort is that of the curse of a black magician. According to the legend, a powerful black magician fell in love with the beautiful princess of Bhangarh, but his advances were rejected. In retaliation, the magician cursed the fort and all its inhabitants, leading to the fort being abandoned and becoming a ghost town.

Another legend associated with the fort is that of the cursed oil lamp. It is said that a sadhu (holy man) warned the inhabitants of the fort that if the shadow of the palace touched him, the palace would be destroyed. The princess of Bhangarh, Ratnavati, was so beautiful, a local prince fell in love with her. He asked a tantrik (magician) to help him win her love and the tantrik gave him a love potion, but the princess got to know about it and got the potion thrown away, which hit a boulder and rolled down the hill, and the boulder started following the princess. The princess was smart and she knew that the boulder was following her so she threw it in the palace where it broke the palace's oil lamp and the palace caught fire and was destroyed.

However, the most popular legend associated with the fort is that of the curse of the princess, Ratnavati. It is said that a local prince, Singhia, fell in love with Ratnavati and tried to win her hand in marriage through deceit. However, the princess saw through his plan and rejected his proposal. Angered by her rejection, Singhia used black magic to try and win her love. However, his plan backfired and he was killed by the princess. Before he died, he cursed the fort and all its inhabitants, leading to the fort being abandoned and becoming a ghost town.

The fort today stands in ruins, and is a popular spot for tourists and ghost hunters. The fort is open to visitors from sunrise to sunset, but the local authorities have prohibited entry after sunset due to the spooky stories associated with it. Visitors to the fort have reported strange occurrences and paranormal activities, making it a must-visit destination for those interested in the paranormal.

Despite the spooky stories, the fort is an architectural marvel and is a great example of Rajput-era architecture. The fort walls are made of stone and are quite impressive, with a number of temples and palaces within the fort complex. The fort also has a number of water tanks and reservoirs, which were used to store water during times of war.

In conclusion, Bhangarh Fort is a destination that is steeped in history and legend. Whether you are interested in the paranormal or just want to explore a piece of India's rich cultural heritage, the fort is definitely worth a visit. But be sure to stick to the visiting hours as it is prohibited to enter the fort after sunset, due to the spooky stories associated with it.
